Details of Hastings bid for Vet's Home released|
Hastings is offering more than $8 million as part of its bid to secure a new Nebraska veterans home, a state project that's expected to generate high-paying jobs and other economic benefits. Dave Rippe, director of the Hastings Economic Development Corporation, said the the Hastings community has really come together in attempts to land the Vets home. The city's proposal to the state includes $4.6 million in direct cash funding, plus indirect benefits such as housing assistance for new employees and scholarship programs for workforce development. The city is also willing to deliver at least 45 acres of land to the north of the city, about 12 miles from Interstate 80.
