Local awareness for Hunger and Homeless Week

November 12th 18th is Hunger and homeless awareness week and as we begin a series of stories on hunger and poverty right here in Hastings, Hastings College is again focusing on these issues with a series of events going on this week to help. Jean Harriot, with the College was our guest yesterday morning on the morning call. Harriot says its a real eye opening experience for the students to see the effects of hunger and homelessness in the community. The Salvation Army is one organization that sees those struggling with both hunger and homelessness. Abe Tamayo is the major of the Salvation Army. The community can help those that the salvation army serves, the Red Kettle Campaign, the iconic symbol of the Salvation Army kicks off in Hastings this Thursday at the Celebration of lights.
